“At the beginning of the school year, our drawers are empty and our glue sticks dried up.” Susanna Mireles-Mankus, Art Teacher, Eldorado Elementary
Creativity cannot exist in a vacuum. It takes inspired teachers, with sufficient resources to motivate young people to express themselves. ARTsmart is committed to funding art materials and projects in the Santa Fe Public Schools.
Art Builds Self-Esteem. Over the past 12 years, ARTsmart has donated almost $835,000 to Santa Fe schoolchildren to ensure they have the resources needed to develop creative minds and hearts.
Small Differences, Large Effects. Santa Fe Public Schools art teachers submit art proposals that are reviewed. Funding includes purchasing books and materials, as well as interactive exchanges with guest artists.
“I Made It” Plates. Each year, more than 1,000 elementary students create placemats of which 100 are selected to be transformed into unique ceramic plates.
Sharing Joy. Elementary students are given quality watercolor paper on which they craft colorful, one-of-a-kind greeting cards.
Inspired Innovations. ARTsmart subsidizes materials for three-dimensional projects including stained glass, jewelry, and ceramics.
Art Talks. Students receive acrylic paint sets and canvases for exploring ideas, learning about themselves, and following their bliss.
